The Contour Debate Continues
Contouring was popularized by drag queens who sculpt definition into their faces to enhance a feminine look. It can bring a more chiseled appearance to the cheeks, frame the face, and lighten up under the eyes and cheeks.
It can also make you look like a striped mess and it’s really unnecessary for most people especially for an every day look. Instead of heavy contouring, consider bronzer and a great highlight which add a radiance to the face that is so pretty and healthy looking. Consider focusing on the skin looking radiant and not all carved out and disjointed.
It’s time to stop contouring. Here’s why
If you’re still worrying about ditching the bronzer/highlighter/concealer routine there are other ways to accentuate your cheekbones, brow bones and nose. Kick-start a proper moisturising regime. Try serums and oils coupled with regular exfoliating to get that natural glow. Invest back into illuiminisers and go back to that old trick of dabbing it on your face’s highpoints. Still not convinced? We’ll revert to Ms. Brown. “The contouring trend is so wrong because it tells women there’s something wrong with their face. There’s beauty in a full face, so I don’t like to paint in a cheekbone that doesn’t exist.”
